BTC 2008 AGM & Conference

Payment will be accepted at the door.  A limited number of seats for dinner are still available on a first come, first served basis.

 Workshops :: Saturday, Sept. 20 – 14:00 to 17:00

Please indicate when registering your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices for workshops.

1. Dufferin Aggregates Regeneration Tour – Tour of the work to redevelop the Milton Quarry site and a look at the future of the Escarpment. $3 bus charge

2. The 5th Annual "Bill Baker Environmental Hike" and Historical Tour of Limehouse – A visit to the historic lime kilns that surround the community and observe nature within the conservation authority and the “Springle Property” which is managed by the BTC. Lead by: Don Williams from the BTC Environment Committee and Todd Bardes, BTC Land Stewardship Director and Hike Leader. 
$3 bus charge

3. "Best Practices for Increasing Trail Usage by Hikers and Walkers" is the title of a new book produced by Hike Ontario in cooperation with the Province of Ontario and MEC. Presentation will be by Terri LeRoux, President of Hike Ontario. Copies of this book will be available for sale.

4. Tour of Historical Norval – Kathy Gastle, the former Mayor of Halton Hills and a resident of Norval, will lead a tour of the historic community and the home of Lucy Maud Montgomery. www.norval.ca

5. Four Self Guided Tours – coordinated by Maureen Smith to a) Fall Country Fair, b) Glen Williams, c) Winery and d) Hobby Horse. Maps and tour instructions will be provided.

6. The Bruce Trail Conservancy’s Strategic Plan - our Next 40 years – A look at the BTC's role as a Conservancy, our recent work, and our path forward. Presentation by the BTC Executive. In the Kinsman Room.

Hikes :: Sunday, Sept. 16 – 8:30, 9:00 & 10:00 am

Bring your own lunch and water. Please indicate when registering your 1st and 2nd choice for hikes.

At 8:30 meet in the parking lot at the Gellert Centre for a car pool to Scottsdale Farm.

All three hikes are loop hikes starting and ending in the parking lot at the farm. All will use a combination of Main and Side Trails.

LEVEL 1 HIKE – approx. 9 km at a leisurely pace (3 km/hr). Leader: John Riley

LEVEL 2 HIKE – approx. 13 km at a moderate pace (4 km/hr). Leader: Lucy Leung & Rabia Hasan

LEVEL 3 HIKE – approx. 17 km at a fast pace (5 km/hr). Leader: Charlie Atkinson & Keith Allin All hikers are requested to reconvene at 1:30 PM at the parking lot of Scottsdale Farm for the Lloyd Smith Walking Stick Trophy Presentation.

To Gellert Community Centre

From Highway 401: go North on Trafalgar Road, to 10th Sideroad; turn right (East); turn left (North) on 8th Line. Gellert Centre is on your right, in the Georgetown South Community Park.

From Highway 7 in Georgetown: at the Great Canadian Super Store, turn South on Mountainview Road and travel about 3 kms to 10th Sideroad and turn right. Proceed to 8th Line, about one km. Turn right again onto 8th Line for about 700 meters. The Gellert Community Centre will be on the right at 10241 Eighth Line. 905-877-4244.
